Description

'That Daughter's Crazy' & 'Lapse of Honour' secure joint opening night billing at 2015 British Urban Film Festival

In a unique first, The British Urban Film Festival can reveal today that it will screen 2 UK premieres on the opening night of BUFF 2015.

Starting on Friday 18 September, The British Urban Film Festival will open with the UK premiere of ‘That Daughter’s Crazy’ – a portrait documentary featuring Rain Pryor and her mother who both talk candidly about Richard Pryor, the family man and how much their lives have been subject to public and private scrutiny. Rain will be the guest panellist for the Q&A, to be moderated by comedienne, writer & broadcaster Angie Le Mar.
The second UK premiere on Friday 18 September, will be Lapse of Honour - a drama based in Moss Side, Manchester and starring Birmingham rapper and singer Lady Leshurr in her debut lead role. The film also stars Louis Emerick (formerly of Brookside) and Gary Mcdonald (formerly of Eastenders) and is written & directed by actress Rayna Campbell. BUFF's coverage will be fronted by the award-winning presenter Remel London.
Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe, head of BUFF’s programming and special events said: “This is a new chapter for urban independent film in the UK. We hope that London will turn out in their thousands for the showpiece event in the urban film calendar. BUFF 2015 will be showing more premieres and more shorts across more days than ever before. Our line-up of presenters will provide top coverage of the UK's best urban films, filmmakers & scriptwriters. We can't wait to get started!"
In all, BUFF 2015 will screen 33 films across 7 days from a host of venues including at Genesis, East London's biggest independent cinema.
The majority of tickets will go on sale in August. A selection of films previously shown at BUFF will be screened on free-to-air television for the first time thanks to a new broadcast partnership with London Live.
The UK premiere of That Daughter's Crazy will be hosted by Angie Le Mar at Genesis Cinema on Friday 18 September at 6.30pm.
The UK premiere of Lapse of Honour will be hosted by Remel London at Genesis Cinema on Friday 18 September at 9.00pm.

Organised by

Established in 2005, the British Urban Film Festival was initially formed to showcase urban independent cinema in the absence of any such state-sponsored activity in the UK. Supported by a board which includes actors, journalists, film critics and filmmakers, BUFF stands out as the only festival of its kind with a triple offering of online, on-air and spectator platforms where filmmakers and scriptwriters are presented with the opportunity to have their work showcased to the largest audience reach possible.
